Does anybody have any opinions on Zhu's silk line or cortland peach.I have been using wt forward
my leonard 39dh and getting by with it.I have a 3 piece 3wt in the works and would like to try something
different on it.

Does anyone have any recomendations for a nice 7 1/2' 3/2 true 5wt? I'm looking for something that is not too deep flexing, pretty much a medium or a medium/fast action . I'll be using it mostly in close (small to medium szed streams), seldom over 35' and for small dries or a dry/dropper rig the majority of the time. Anyone have experience with a Payne 198 or a Dickerson 761510? Haven't decided on the maker yet and will do that when I decide which taper I...

Hello,
I have an old split cane bamboo fly rod that is a 2 piece, 7ft rod. It casts a DT4F quite well. It has nickel ferrules and has only one marking on it, which is the word "Kent". It is hand written beneath the finish. Does anyone have any information about this rod's origin? I'm not sure if I should fish it, or seal it away in a safe. Thank you for any information you might have.

I was very blessed to have Watercolorman over the other day, It was a joy to have someone to talk rods with, without the feeling they wanted to run away!!!!
Unfortunately, when I set this up with Allen, I had told the wife I would go with her to court for a hearing.... I forgot the date, man did I screw up. Allen was such a gentleman with it , we had only a little time to enjoys each others company.
No time to cast, just time to look at a few rods and cherish the combined interest....

Went back to that stream I know of...

So, the weather finally warmed up enough to somewhat expect to catch fish. I thought I'd go try a stream my bosses told me would be too cold to catch any fish in. They were almost right, as the fishing was rather slow to begin with in the early afternoon. But, I worked downstream to get away from the bridge where most people have access, and found this little miracle of a hole:

Need some help, the wife is taking me out to Phoenix at the end of this month, begining of November. Any suggestions on places to wet a line? Is Lee's Ferry still fishing well? Are there any areas in AZ/NV that would be better to try (don't mind traveling from Phoenix).

My son in Denver sent me a photo today- a few inches of snow on his front lawn! How has this affected you Front Range fishers? Still getting out?

Here in the Southwest (and I mean about as far south and west as you can go) the season's change means its time to hit the streams again, the ponds are more pleasant to fish (and bring along the scatter gun!), and the halibut will soon be moving into the embayments. Fall is a bountiful time....

I finally have a couple of days off (life's rough when you have to work on rivers all day, every day, all season...), and I am heading to the Bob Marshall Wilderness to get photos of Westslope Cutties, and hopefully a few Bull Trout. Should be a good test for my new 6 wt., but it sure would be nice to have a little, 3 pc., 4 wt. rod, especially made for native Cutthroat trout. Maybe I'll have one, one of these days

Hey Guys,

Can anyone help me id this rod. A friend of mine found it where he works and wonders who the maker is. The rod is an 8'6" 3/2 with a mild swelled butt and a ruby agate stripper. The ferrules have rolled welts and there are no markings left on the shaft.

OK! For the sake of seeing this Forum flourish and grow I will ask a question that would probably be deleted on the other side anyway.

I have questions about classic rod companies that have gone out of business for some period of time and then had their Name and equipment purchased by someone who restarts the company and makes rods under that...

I finished a new rod for my brothers birthday and we took a short trip to break it in. First fish landed on the new 8' 6 weight was a fat 21" male brown with a nice kype. About an hour after that I farmed the net job on a huge 24" brown, and the fish got off. We ended up catching a few more descent fish that day, but none of the huge bows the river is known for. Unfortunately we left the camera in the car, so my brother's brown went un-photographed.

Can any of you guys shed some light on an old rod that has "RADIO" stamped on the reelseat. No other info as it was stripped and rewrapped at some point. Seems to me that I've heard of this somewhere, just can't put my finger on it.

Got the Driggs last week and already put it to work. I went back to the Harrimans Ranch on the Henry's Fork this weekend and fished the Driggs all day Saturday. What a blast that rod is. For a little rod, it can throw some serious line. It's also great close in which is where I do most of my fishing. An absolute joy to fish. Spool Size

Is there any kind of rule of thumb for spool size for different line weights... say x cubic inches for #4. If I have a maximum rim size of 2.75 inches, how do I determine the maximum arbor size that I can use and still get the line on the reel?
