I've got a few out of state trips coming up in the next several months, and have decided that I will take an extra day in each location and fish the local
rivers (assuming there are any good options). I always prefer to ask people who know the area, instead of simply checking it out on-line. So - how about a
general travel log thread?

I'm headed to Chattanooga, Tn in early October, and Scottsdale, Az in late October. Any suggestions for rivers and guides?

As we wind down the summer and plummet headlong into harvest season I reflect that this has been another strange season in Southern Colorado, but then when do
we ever have a "normal" season anymore? The Rio Grande and Conejos rivers peaked almost a month early on the 8th of May, and then settled in to a
long runoff, with good flows, sometimes augmented with reservoir releases continuing until around the first of August. We had some unusual rains in May and
June, but when it turned...

Back about 1998 or so I bought a pair of Burris binoculars, seems to me that with my discount they were about $250.00 retailed around $500.00 Well long
story short over the years they just seemed to lose their 'luster'. They got hard to adjust and just seemed to not be right. Well when I lived in
Greeley, CO I used to pass by their factory every day! So yesterday I thought I would take these binoculars up there and see if it was just my imagination or

I'm looking for some suggestions for light (ie, readable under the influence of significant pain-killing drugs) and humorous reading material . Doesn't
have to fly fishing themed - but it wouldn't hurt.

Thanks for the help,

So, for me this does peripherally relate to bamboo rod making. Or to making anything. Anyway, I do think it was a real shame that shop class (industrial
arts) at my high school was openly felt to be a backwater for guys going nowhere. I'm sorry I missed out on shop class.

Gawith Hoggarth Tobacco Samples

Recently I acquired several samples of Gawith Hoggarth blends, nine different ones to be exact. As I smoke them I will share my impression of each, though I
hasten to add that I make no pretense of having the kind of refined palate requisite to being an expert reviewer.

joyous tradition. Perhaps some of you enjoy a briar while casting your bamboo, like I do. With that possibility in mind, I've thought it may be helpful to
post a tobacco review from time to time. Here's the first:

This might be mostly for Joe, but I am wondering what other people's experiences have been with knife-sharpening. So, the biggest problem I have been
having is using the "X"-shaped sharpeners that have two steel (or ceramic) rods crossed, and you run the knife through them. I can not get them to
keep a point on the very tip of the blade. This is extremely important to me, as I mostly use knife points to remove bamboo slivers<img...
