Might be hit or miss for the caddis hatch. The weather looks unstable for the weekend. Check with the guys at ArkAnglers in Salida for best info. The water
is up from earlier in the hatch and off color lately. There has been good BWO activity with cloud cover in early afternoon. Bring a wading staff and
sunscreen. Can't beat a relaxing soak in the Mount Princeton Hot Springs just south of Buena Vista too. Now all you need is a cold beverage and a bend in
your rod. Have fun.

Flow is at 600 CFS right now, up almost double in the last five days and wading is getting a bit tougher. It is tea stained right now, not totally off colored
(I live .5 miles from the river in Salida and fish several times a week). Caddis have progressed up to the town of Salida and on up to big bend. Higher up
towards Buena Vista might be ahead of the hatch by this weekend. Crowds have been high, as would be expected, so plan your spots accordingly. BWOs have petered
out with the warm temps. There are still a smattering here and there, but the strength is down considerably.
It is supposed to be mid 70s tomorrow and 80 on Thursday, so watch the flows carefully, but if it stays relatively clear, you should have good fishing. Wading staff is a good idea, as is some "off caddis" patterns. Think about giving them a little something different, as they have been hitting the caddis pretty hard. Good luck and good fishing. Thanks for the information. I will let you know next week how we did. This is the first time on the water for this flatland boy.

Have fun! I am in Denver this weekend and will be missing all the fun. River actually came down about 20 CFS today. Running about 580 right now and color is
good. If you are up for it, consider fishing towards sunset, as the females come out to lay their eggs. There were bugs milling around after 7PM in town last
night. Also, don't be afraid to put a bit of a twitch or skitch on the fly, especially later in the day.

I like to powder her up, cast as far as I can across three currents. let the line sit a few moments to "snake up" then apply short fast tension to the line, that Caddis dance's with the stars..."-) Don't for get to post photos of your trip, I do enjoy them since I can't be on the water..."-(

![]() We had a tough three days, but did catch a few browns. Streamers from the boat
and caddis wading the edges. Arkanglers took us floating and their website the next week reported poor fishing. We agreed.

Agreed, sorry it wasn't great. Runoff came very fast and early this year, which blew out some of the caddis hatch. Still high and muddy here today (2100
CFS), although the cooler weather has slowed things down. We saw almost 3000 CFS about a week ago, which is really high. I agree with Dave, fall fishing is
sublime.

Don't get me wrong. Even though we didn't catch many fish, we did catch some. All on bamboo, both old and new:Grainger, Heddon, WmAbrams, and
Sweetgrass. Every fish fought hard. We caught fish every day although I missed too many strikes. The guides claim the full moon made the fishing harder.
I'd never heard that. The guides also claim great fishing end of July and beginning of August and right after the run-off ends. I have not fished the
Arkansas that much, but now have access to free room in Buena Vista so may be there more often. Keep me posted.
