So earlier this month Dad and I headed to the New River to fish for smallies. I am sorry to report that I brought the only bamboo rod. Anyway, Dad and
Marty both said, "Can I cast that thing", and both said, "MAN that casts really nice!!!"

The casting question, up for comments, is why can I NOT set a hook at more than 40' on a bamboo rod. I have, this trip and another, cast and gotten
strikes at 60 some odd feet, I just can not set the hook. I may need leasons from my buddy above; he did not seem to have a problem hookin' up or keeping
the pressure on...
