Duronze Components |
Lead | ||
|
I built a spinning rod for a friend of mine a couple of years back. I thought you guys, who were interested, might like to see what the alloy
looks like on a cane rod. The seat components are styled after a Dickerson model and the ferrule is a trunicated design of my own.

Looks good Billy.
I've made a couple of simple slide bands and butt caps with Duronze that turned out nice. Once I tried to make a down locking reel seat but I had a lot of trouble drilling and boring the duronze bar stock, mostly due to lack of machining experience and dull tools. Does anyone know of any suppliers that make duronze tubing??? Mike |

Billy: Nice work! I was just wondering, yesterday if anyone made components out of Duronze. I hadn't seen it before, but thought it would look great on
'boo. And it does
. Thanks for sharing, eh.

Boring | #3 | ||
|
Thank you guys. Zac, I liked it for seats and stuff, heck if it's good enough for ferrules, I figure it's good enough for everything.
Mike, how did you go about trying to bore the Duronze. I used either cobalt drills, which needed to be constantly plunged and removed and other times I used a boring bar. I needed a 3/8ths" starter hole for the boring bar then I'd use it to finish. Normally Mike, I'd start with a 1/16" pilot and work my way up to the finish size by 1/8th" increments if I would use bits entirely. Billy |

Re: Boring | #4 | ||

The last I time I turned hardware was a year ago on a little micro Lathe. After much trial and error learning I got the hang of working with the material now.
Also since then I upgraded to a real metal lathe and taught myself how to sharpen drill bits and tools. A friend loaned me a set of nice 2 degree taper reamers
that work really slick for slide bands. So I'm good to go now. Thanks
