Posts: 532 12/20/08 07:22:03	This January 9th thru the 11th @ the Denver Merchandise Mart... I see Jeff is hosting the bamboo section, should be a good one... Let's see a show of hands... Edited 12/31/08... Joe Arguello and I will have a table in the Rocky Mountain Bamboo Revival section of the show, North/East corner of the show as you enter the front door. Bigger this year and we have our own casting area again, great for throwing cane without waiting on the main casting area so come on by and say Hi... I was wondering what was going on with the whole "Bamboo Revival" booths, and such, at the show. Is the Gnome taking over Fultz's duties of ABRA? Are there going to be lots of builders? I just read a little about it yesterday, online, and it looks like there are going to be two shows again. Neither of the two short articles I read mentioned anything about bamboo. They were mostly about the business of having two shows at the same time. Just wondering what the scoop is, Davey

Posts: 532 12/20/08 17:54:53	I was referring to Jeff Hatton (Gnome), has his big smiling face next to Gierach's in the flyer..."-) They call it the Rocky Mountain Bamboo Revival and it's bigger this year... Gnome is doing three Casting Domos & three talk's on the History of Fly Fishing... John Betts is doing three demos on strip-built hardwood rods done on a lathe... It gets a little lonely up here in the winters of northern WY so I've made it a point to go the last 3 years for the chance to talk-shop with the other rod makers.... even though most yous guys are from Colorado . . Have you tried surf fishing on a fly rod yet? (Make sure to rinse that salt water off the bamboo!!!) His booth was empty most of the time we were there. So we went off to find the Gnome: Went back to Dave's booth ~ still not there ~ yet we found him! Dave ~ still not at his booth to talk rods ~ off to see Alan Kube: Back to Dave's booth ~ still not there ~ off to see The Dietrich Bros. at Dream Catcher Fly Rods: Found Dave ~ still not ready to talk about bamboo: ....So....off to see Harry Boyd: Dave ~ still not at his booth. Guess he had something besides selling rods on his mind: Closing time at the show ~ Dave finally makes an appearance at his booth:

It was really nice to see everyone there, only regret is not taking my camera till the last day/hour of the show... Some fine rods built by some guy at the show...I think his name is Dave from some town in Colorado... The Gnome waxing poetic while casting cane. The Gnome demonstrating the sensitivity of a mortised grip. "You can't do THAT with some plastic straw type rod!" Drinking a fine beer with some fine women. It was a great show and once again the best part of it was being able to see so many friends, many of them customers, that I haven't seen in a long time.
