Not to belabor it, but the subject is topical because of recent events and this forum's proximity to them. I am a member of several forums, as are many who have other interests extending outside of our subject matters here. Two in particular come to mind in relation to the point I'm driving at, The Manufacturing Forum, and the various forums at Auction Arms. There can, at times, be outbreaks of outright hostility between participants. The members typically tolerate a little letting off of steam, then corral the combatants and bring them to sobriety. I've seen particularly offensive or vulgar posts deleted, but the balance of the thread remains more or less permanently. Sometimes management steps in, but the ultimate responsibility for a thread's contents can be assumed by the originator of it.
This, I think, fosters a kind of liberal self regulation based on a common "culture", that is: the prevailing consensus on manners which are, ultimately, merely the expression of the way one views others. And this applies to both members and Moderators.
I am consuming bandwidth not to make a recommendation, but to point out that no one likes Fascism, and to be treated as a subject of Imperial Power is unacceptable almost anywhere on earth.
Oddly or naturally, this human repugnance, over which hideously sanguinary wars have been waged, is manifested in electronic communities like ours. Or theirs.
It seems to me that the casual and forthright culture being established here at the very outset, coupled with the past experience of the growing membership, will make for a very successful and rewarding phenomenon.
And now, back to our regularly scheduled programing.

didn't have many friends.
Maybe I should form a
corporate shell with big, thick walls.
) Gonna be up this way?
