Well, I got my blanks glued up for what I hope will be blanks adjustable from a 6-8 wt. rod with a progressive,
medium-fast action. I hollow-built the butts and tips (a first for me), and made the blanks 60 inches long, from which I'll use 50-53 inches from. I made
an inch by inch taper, so I can use the mill at Sweetgrass, or my planing forms, and/or both. I roughed the taper in at Sweetgrass, then finished the strips on
my planing forms. I put proprietary in quotes b/c I came up with the numbers just by plugging them in, but was strongly influenced by suggestions from Jerry
K., Thomas and Glenn B. from Sweetgrass. Also, it is similar to some Dickerson tapers. Below are my blanks as I have them done thus far.
Detail of the hollowing. I hollowed out most the grip all the way through the butt of the butt. There is a dam for several inches to adjust for where my thumb will rest while casting. The tips are hollowed in the bottom 1/3 of the blank, but solid to adjust for ferrule placement.
